TypeKit is one of the best things I’ve found on the web lately. Basically TypeKit is a company that hosts a huge variety of web rendered fonts that any designer or developer can use on their website. Instead of having to embed your fonts or being content with the standard Arial, you can pretty much choose any font you want (they host it), and you just add a simple line of code in your page. Sounds super easy!
Best thing about it is it’s “…bulletproof, standards compliant, accessible, and totally legal.”
I checked out pricings and for one website and 2 fonts it’s FREE – perfect for those online design portfolios. For unlimited use of their library and unlimited websites you can pay $49.99 a year. Personally, I think it’s a fair price for good web fonts. I mean great fonts never come cheap. I bought a font set last month that cost me about $100 or so.
I’m gonna try this out when I start up my new online portfolio.
