I always pictured rock climbing to be such a rugged activity for the sporty type. Myself, I never got very far due to my lack of upper body strength and my fear of heights. In fact, every time I went climbing I’d climb as high as I could go, look down and feel quite satisfied that I was really high. It was only when I got down that a friend would point at say “Actually you only went up to there” which was always barely off the ground. These were back in my teenage days and I don’t think I’ve ever gone rock climbing since.
But that might change if I find a rock climbing wall that looks like this:
Design agency, Nendo has redesigned the idea of a rock climbing wall in a fitness gym in Tokyo. The wall is adorned with fantasy-like ornaments such as mirrors, picture frames and deer heads. The wall is very Alice is Wonderland and is so tempting to climb.
The cotton candy pastel colours give me a nostalgic feeling, you know that feeling where you want to climb on trees, slide stair railings – that feeling. If only we had something like this in Australia. Alas, the wall resides in Tokyo, Japan so if you’re lucky enough to live there go past the Illoiha Omotesando fitness club, have a try and I’ll live vicariously through you.
