Vizualize.me is a cute little website that allows you to turn your boring old text based resume into a visual masterpiece. If you’re a fan of infographics like me you will have fun playing around with this.
The site syncs into your LinkedIn profile, grabs your public data and outputs that data visually using different themes, thus creating your infographic resume. I admit to being a tad more excited than I should have been when I got my email that said it had been launched and tried it right away.
The infographic elements are really cute and the UI is sleek, clean, and easy to use. Although I would have loved to see more themes, more control and the ability to add different types of data and visual elements. This would really enchance the experience. I would have also loved the ability to not only choose themes but choose specifically how each section of data is visually represented. Currently the only differentiators between the themes is the Education/Work timeline, everything else is displayed the same.
I especially like the colour palette options which definitely takes out a lot of thinking on the user’s part. But I have to say some of the palettes were a bit senseless. For example yellow text on a white background is not only visually unappealing but inaccessible. But not to worry because you are still able to choose the colour of individual elements.
So after a little play I think my final infographic is cute as a button but I feel it serves more as small snapshot of a person’s career and skills set and I definitely wouldn’t use it to replace my actual resume. Regardless of that, it’s such a great concept and I love the vision behind it. To say I’m pretty excited about its evolution is an understatement.
